Kusatsu City
First of all, We would like to say "Thank you or Arigatou for visiting our home page!" Our children, two daughters and a son, have already gone on their own lives, so our nest is so-called an Empty Nest.
We would like to introduce Kusatsu-city, where we live and and love as our hometown. It is in Shiga Prefecture; 20 minutes by train from from Kyoto-city, 30 minutes from Hikone-city. Our city has a lot of historical places, because it was a big post station of Tokaido (main road from Kyoto to Tokyo in the Edo-era). Also the newly developed area is very convenient for shopping. We love this complex very much.
In our city, a river called Kusatsu-river runs through the center of the city. This river is very unusual, it runs above ground level, so we have to pass it under the river in the tunnel. On the tunnel wall of old Tokaido, six paintings are drawn, representing spectacles of old Kusatsu and its street. We can enjoy it when we pass through the tunnel. I took photos of them, and put them on this page. Please enjoy them.
There is another "Kusatsu" in Japan. It is in Gunma prefecture,and very famous as a hot spa. So if I say "I live in Kusatsu", people who live in Kanto region say,"You are happy, because you can enjoy spa everyday!"
Michihiko Tanaka
: Born in Tokyo in 1939, Since then, I have moved many times and lived in a lot of places, for example, Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto, JILIN(China), Nagoya, Matsuyama, Otsu, Kusatsu and so on. I have been a chemical engineer on polymer chemistry for more than 30 years, especially have keen interests on finding new applications of functional polymers. Hobbies: play ping-pong, listen and play instruments, care for a garden,travel by train.
Hitomi Tanaka
: Born in Osaka in 1942, I'm a pharmacist, working for a pharmacy near our home. Recently my husband and I started to study Chinese, because one of our daughters married a Chinese, now lives in Taipei. So, I like to read books and watch movies concerning to culture, history of China very much. Another my favorite is taking video movies.
We already lost both of our fathers but our mothers are in good health, sometimes visit us. Our two daughters already have their own children, our son works for a foreign company, and lives with his wife in Beijing.
